"Shame on those who evil think*" (!) famous phrase of Edward IV when he picked up the garter of the Countess of Salisbury, his mistress, addressed to the lords who mocked him : "One day you will be proud to wear this fabric to your lapel" he said, and so he created the "Order of the Garter", coveted until nowadays!
